In 2012, Steel Diamond was awarded the welding contract from Saipem Australia to supply welding services, supervision and spacers for the 420km 42inch pipeline for their Queensland GLNG gas pipeline project.
Steel Diamond was responsible for the complete mobilisation of a welding crew, required to perform all welding duties including tie-ins, station work, fabrication and mainline welding.
With a workforce capacity of 100 personnel, the project was completed successfully in 18 months with a welding repair rate of 2.7%.
